A massive reserve of nature the Minneriya National Park is dominated by Minneriya tank, a large body of water that was created by King Parakramabahu. The resulting national park that has sprung around the tank was created in much more recent times. One of the most common animals that can be found here is the iconic elephant which can be seen throughout the year.
