I’m taking a cross country road trip from NJ – OREGON in mid September. ADVICE?
I’d love some advice on where I should stop? Any weird oddities I should see.. I LOVE the path less taken & I love nature so I want to stop at a lot of National Parks and really amazing cities. The Plan is to take 2 weeks to get from New Jersey to Oregon. We are taking I-80 most of the way so we’ll be going through, NJ, Pa, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, and then Oregon! so, we definitely don’t mind straying off of I-80 but I need some ideas of what there is to see? Any must sees? must see museums? Exhibits? Concerts/festivals in September? National or historic monuments? Must see cities in any of these states? We are down for a major adventure and this is my first cross country road trip….. help is much appreciated!
Since you’re on your own pilgrimage you should definitely stop by Winterset, Iowa, pilgrim (birthplace of John Wayne!). For more information on Iowa and other states on your journey check out: http://www.roadtripjournal.com/iowa/john-wayne!
They even give away a $100 gas card to one visitor each month. Be sure to enter when you visit the site!
