What can i do on my way from San Francisco to Seattle ?

I will drive from SF on 11/22/06, do not wish to waste too much time to detour, so is there anything that’s not too far away from I-5 and interesting that i can stop in between? city, farm, tourist attraction, national park, Will do.

If you are interested in politics, you might stop in Salem, Oregon and Olympia, Washington to see both state capitals. Neither is far from the highway, and I think both give free tours. Also in Salem, OR is a great historical carasoul at Riverview Park.

You might also stop in Portland, OR. They have a great Japanese Garden that I would highly recommend and their downtown area is kind of cute.

There is also a Mount St. Helen’s visitor center about 5 miles east of I-5 on State Route 504. You probably won’t be able to see the volcano unless it’s a clear day, but there is quite a bit of information and a great documentary at this center.

I think that about covers it…unless you are willing to drive up the coast on 101. That’s the scenic route.
