Closing fraser Island For Or Against?

the great sandy national park (fraser island) should be preserved at all coast and therefore access to the general public should be refused to conserve the islands natural and cultural resousces….. are you for or against this and please tell me why and even give web site links… thanks

There have been people lobbying for years to close Fraser Island, but to my knowledge this hasn’t succeeded. Part of the Island was closed in late winter last year due to really bad weather, and I think two access roads were closed this year for upgrading, but the island is still accessible.

I think there should be a progressive closure of parts of the Island to allow regeneration of plants and fauna, but with a major part of the island always being open. Tourists should be made aware of why closure of certain parts is necessary, and enforcement may be needed to ensure they are kept away from regenerating area.
