national park lodges california

Going to take a road trip up the California coast starting from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara ending at S. F.?

Then heading east to Fairfield, en route to Sacramento, then concluding at either Mammoth Lakes or Yosemite National Park. With stops at Solvang and Monterey and possibly Carmel. Has anyone experienced that ride, and if you have any positive suggestions to offer on restuarants and sightseeing, it would be greatly appreciated. This trip will consist of eight or nine nights of lodging at possibly three or four hotels.

I will be travelling with my brother, his 11 year old daughter, and our parents. Just looking for some suggestions, if any, for all of us to enjoy and to make a trip to remember. Thank you again.

We took a very similar trip last summer, starting in SF; down the coast to Imperial Beach; across Arizona to the Painted desert, petrified forest, Grand Canyon then to Las Vegas. From Vegas we went to Death Valley; Mammoth Lakes and into Yosemite. From Yosemite, back to SF and home. We spent 14 days and stayed in most places 2 or 3 days. It was a fabulous trip, but the details of where we stayed are too long to recount here. If you want more information you can contact me through YA and I’ll give you more details. Whatever you do, don’t miss Death Valley (Furnace Creek Inn).
