Taking Amtrak to Petersburg Va, Ettrick station how far is the?

Petersburg National Battlefield from the South Street Amtrak station…Google’s maps makes it look like its in walking distance. I have to go to Colonial Heights I usually walk it from the ettrick station to the Oaks in Colonial heights so I am a walker. A few people have told me the area around the Park is shady, but I’m coming from Brooklyn New York so how bad can it really be right? Is there any thing I should really be aware of if I decided to walk from the train station to the National park? Thanks for your help in advance.

Petersburg National Battlefield from the Amtrak station…..oh gosh I havent been there since I was little…I used to go to the Amtrak station and watch trains haha and I used to live across the street from the battlepark….let me think.

You can always take a bus! I think..I dont live in Petersburg anymore…sorry!

Oh…be aware of gangsters and hobos(really, hobos)…there have been a lot of shootings on the news lately..
