national park open carry

Can I open Carry A Pistol in Yosemite?

I know as of February of 2010, I know that it is now legal to carry a firearm in National Parks. I also know that you must comply with State and Local laws, And California Law says you can open carry if it is unloaded, without any ammunition connected to the firearm in anyway, but you may carry a loaded magazine as long as it is exposed and not concealed. Now If I was enjoying a hike in Yosemite, can I carry in this manner?

Yes, i believe you can. You are correct about the method of open carry in CA (which is just dumb). I live in Northern Nevada and would advocate open carring a pistol for both four legged and two legged predators. Keep in mind that for effective bear defense, a can of bear spray is proabably more effective than any caliber less than a .357mag (this means ALL semi-autos, except maybe a 10mm). Bear spray works on two legged predators as well, i got a facefull of the stuff when a drunk idiot at a campground started screwing around, it is just as bad as mace, etc.
