national park pins
Where can I buy groceries in East Glacier, montana?
Our Boy Scout troop is taking a trip to Glacier National Park this July and we are trying to pin down details like where to buy groceries, best restaurants and such. Is there a community swimming pool?
There is a decent little convenience/grocery there (corner of 49 and 2). As far as restaurants go, again there is not a lot there. East Glacier has a decent Mexican place (Serrano’s). Summit Station (10+ miles outside of Easst Glacier) is nice (and more upscale), and the chef Gus (culinary institute trained) is the kind hearted sort that would enjoy feeding a group of rowdy boys a good meal (http://www.summitstationlodge.com or 406-226-4428) too. I would set this up well in advance if it is even an option, as July is wedding season for them.
You can probably swim at Big Spring Lake (Dawson Dr, a few miles south of the city), but I do not know for certain on that one.
If you are coming in via Missoula, hit one of the 2 Super Wal-marts there and buy more than you think you will need.
Bear in mind, you cell phones probably will not work, so have alternate plans set up to contact worried parents.
