How large is the island of tenerife compared to England?

I am going to tenerife in august and am probably staying around playa de las americas – but would also like to visit the volcanoes and national park, and maybe other beaches – how is easy is it to get to the other parts of the island?

Tenerife is 2034 square kilometres, or about a 3/5ths the size of Kent.
