Road trip from NYC to San Diego?

hi! All
I am planning to embark on road trip from NY to San diego, intend to go via South dakota-sioux falls-mount rushmore- yellow stone national park-grand teton national park-monument valley-grand canyon-San diego.
I would like some suggestions on “must see” or “must do” and “must not miss” kind of things on this route.
