national parks map canada
Best place for new national park in Canada?
Hello!
I am doing this project and I’m wondering where a good place to put a new national park would be? Like areas that would be mined dry or places where an endangered species needs protecting. Or, could to direct me to a resources for a map of this that has both the existing nation and provincial parks and the aforementioned criteria?
You ask an excellent question. However, I doubt you could get a really simple kind of answer. There are almost no places in Canada that wouldn’t benefit from there being a national park of some description nearby.
Gatineau Park, just north of Ottawa, is a park run by the NCC (National Capital Commission). I think it would benefit greatly by being redesignated as a national park.
What I can say, however, is that national parks would not be located within a city. Still, parks located not far from a city would work. In all honesty, I have been all across this country and cannot think of a place that wouldn’t make a good national park.
Pick a place…any place and you won’t go wrong. Seriously.
Actually, since it is for a project, I would really consider Gatineau Park. I have included a couple of links to Gatineau Park since you asked about resources about parks themselves. It has fantastic hiking trails, cross-country ski trails that are equally fantastic and the little chalets dotted along the trails all seem to have things like bird feeders to entice feathered friends to come and feed. Yeah, I know, I sound like an advertisement but I’m really serious.
Thank you for asking such a neat question. It really gives me food for thought. Good luck on your project.
