Australian mobile network coverage?

I may be heading off to camp with my school when I go back Term 4 on Monday on the Central Coast (Little Beach) during the first week and in the Royal National Park on the second week. Both are 3 days and 2 nights each.

When I went last year, I was with Vodafone and it was completely dead. I couldn’t stay in touch with my friends and family and not to mention if anything happened…

I’m with Optus at the moment and I’m not sure if they cover those areas. Has anyone been to those areas before? Which network(s) cover them?

My sister lives up that way and both she and her son have Optus pre-paids. The coverage is OK, not great.

You should be able to get it most places but be prepared to lose signal in some more remote areas.

Vodafone’s coverage in non-metro areas is not as good, although they seem to have a better city-wide (Sydney and Melbourne) coverage.
