national park vacations
yellowstone national park…..?
what to do, where to stay, where to eat, and most importantly…. the cost. lol these are some of the questions i have about planning a vacation to yellowstone national park. my bf is in iraq and we want to go on a little vacation next summer. we thought yellowstone would be a nice relaxing, but fun vacation for us. any tips or websites would be a great help!
i’d be coming from milwaukee, wisconsin……
You may want to start here: http://www.nps.gov/yell
It will point you in the direction of lodging, food, etc. My understanding is the park can get quite busy, especially in summer so be prepared for crowds. Planning well ahead is a good idea as you will have many options for lodging.
Without knowing any preferences as far as kind of hotel, where you are coming from, etc. it is difficult to provide much more.
Good luck planning and God bless you both!
EDIT: You would likely want to fly to Jackson Hole. That can be around $350 per person as near as I can figure. Do you want to stay in the park? That’ll run you on average around $100 per night for a basic room. For nicer lodgings expect $175 and up.
Here are some links to In-park lodging choices:

You may not even need to rent a car if you do not want. There are commercial transportation services from Jackson to the park available in summer and there are certainly tours within the park.
I hope that helps a little more.
Have you pondered borrowing or renting an RV and making the trip that way? That may be something to consider too as you can stop and see a few other places along the way (Badlands NP, Mount Rushmore, etc).
