I need travel advice for a trip to Yosemite National Park!?

My husband and I are wanting to go to Yosemite National Park this August. I have a few questiona and welcome your input of travel suggestions!
-What airport should we fly into? (Leaving from Charlotte, NC)
-Where should we stay while there?
-We want to see some Redwood/Sequoia trees while there. Are there any in Yosemite or within driving distance of there?
-What is the average temperature like in late August there?

If you can’t find the answers you want you can post a question (just like on Yahoo Answers) in the forum area of the town/city/country you are interested in. There is often “a local expert ” who will reply sometimes with extremely detailed answers.
